About the project:

The Nightcap Tunnel Plug Project was delivered in 2019 which involving excavating a deep tunnel shaft and access adit connecting into the existing tunnel built in the 1960’s.

Project snapshot:

• Planning took logistical challenges into consideration given the remote location of the site.

Completed work:

• Excavated a 4.5m diameter x 20m deep tunnel shaft with a 10m access adit connecting into the existing tunnel.
• Within the existing tunnel, the team installed a new tunnel plug with a mass pour concrete solution.
• Project was delivered on time and to budget.
